Projects, Oh Boy, Do I Have Projects!

I have been reading so many fabulous blogs over the last few months. The number of blogs that I have feeds to has grown and grown and grown because they are all so wonderful and I don't want to miss any any of them. I may be turning into a blogoholic...oh my!

I saw a project on Decorchick that I knew I just had to do Right AWAY!!! She saw the project on Get Your Martha On and put her spin on it. I made a trip to my local Dollar Tree and Walmart today so I can make my version of these beauties! I also picked up some picture frames at Walmart for $3.00 each that hold an 8.5" X 11" image. I know I can have fun with these babies. They are a bronze color with an embossed raised edge. I will paint them a creamy white and sand to reveal some of the original finish. I can't wait to get going on these, but I purchased 10 of them, so I may come to regret it. What I put in the frames is a surprise!

Last, but not least are my many, many home redecorating projects. As an interior designer I am always changing things around, painting, new fabrics, etc. I am redoing my interior design home office, entry and living room almost completely, reusing and rehabbing existing pieces or steals when possible. Additionally, I am putting the finishing touches on a huge master bedroom and bath remodeling project which we recently under took. I will share all these as my blog unfolds.

When my kids we young I purchased some Mexican furniture since it was virtually indestructible and I live in the Southwest. Now my youngest is 18 and I know longer have to worry about the furniture, but I still have a few pieces around the home just begging for a rescue. This buffet is such good storage and I love the size so I can't even think of getting rid of it. I want it to be a little more refined so time to get it looking fabulous. I love Guildmaster's painted furniture so here are a few looks I love.

Here are a few pictures of my buffet. Notice that the hardware doesn't attach with screws. They are attached with bars and then pounded into place. Some paint, distressing, maybe some decorative painting, and new hardware and, well, what do you think? Can you see it? By the way, the wall color is changing too. It will be Copen Blue by Sherwin Williams like my new entry color. I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!!!

  1. I think your buffet would look great, doing just what you mentioned!! It will be a drastic change and will look amazing. Thanks for the shout out! :) I can't wait to see your hurricanes and frames too!

  2. Your buffet is the same as my t.v. cabinet that I painted in my sunroom. My handles and hinges are nailed on instead of screwed on because it is that Mexican stuff, too. Sounds like you have a lot of projects to do. I have three more rooms to paint. Taking a break and then will start again. Look forward to your reveal pictures.

  3. This buffet will come out great! These older pieces are really a great base to work with. I find it's all in the small details.

Put some cute feet on it and maybe some decorative trim on the top edge or on the doors and then paint away. The feet really make a huge difference and of course changing out the handles. Can't wait to see the pics when it's done!

  4. Thanks, Tamra, for the feet suggestion. I saw some really interesting feet at an upholstery shop a few weeks ago that would really look great on this buffet. Maybe I should consider doing six feet instead of four since this is such a big, bulky piece. I'll have to check out some trim possibilities at the lumber yard too!
